elite qualification
I have a question about requalifying for silver status. I'm current silver who didn't think they would quite make the 15 nights in '02 until the latest fall promo came up.
Thanks to the "Take Two" promo with three paid stays before years' end, will that mean I requalified for silver '02 ? And with 15-plus nights already reserved in '03, that'll mean I'll hit silver again for next year. Does that sound right?
I read trough the MR elite status portion of website but didn't meantion anything about how these promo's change the equation.
As always, you input is appreciated.

Well, ir's been over a year since I've stayed at a Marriott property, so I just don't know.
I'm replying so you don't think you are being ignored.
Any current Marriott gurus out there have some advice on this issue?

You'll need three (3) "different" stays during this new promotion, the rest of 2002, not 3 nights, to qualify for the Silver Level, in 2003.
Fifteen (15) reservations, as you know, in 2003, won't qualify you for Silver in 2004 until you've "done the time" (15 nights).
Everyone and their uncle will be a "Silver" in 2003 and most of the employees at the Marriotts we frequent, just laugh about this level (Silver).
Everyone checking in next year will think they're a "VIP", and there just ain't enough bennies to go around.
"Platinum" is "where it's at", but you're still at the mercy of the front desk folks, when checking in.

If you register and make three stays before Jan 31, 03 you will be silver for 03.
You might want to make some of the stays in January 03 if you think you may end up short of 15 nights in 03.
IMHO, the only real benefit of silver is the extar few % bonus on "real" Marriott stays. Only since I made gold have I gotten any upgrades and concierge floor access.
