Hilton Diamond thinking of making the switch

Also did the switch... For me, I am happy with the low end properties as long as I can get a free breakfast, which is standard at the lower end properties, ironically.

So, the redemption rates are much better with Mariott. Hampton Inns usually run around 25,000 points (rarely lower) while you can get the lower end Mariott properties for 15K or even 10K points pretty easily. I tried a SpringHill Suites for the first time last week and was blown away with the personal card, welcome gifts, and dedicated parking spots for Platinums. Wish the higher end properties would treat me that way!

However, I do NOT like not getting free breakfasts on weekends. That alone will keep me qualifying for Hilton Diamond as well for those nice weekend stays in the cities.

Check the exec lounge sticky when looking at weekend stays. Some hotels are keeping their lounges open &/or providing brekkie coupons if they're closed. No breakfast on weekends is NOT universal.
