W14 vs. 014 award availability
Hello,
I'm planning on using W14 certs for 2 nights out of a 3-night stay in Chicago. However, the reservations agent claims there were no more rooms available for the W14 awards and that I need to redeem a 014 award instead.
When I talked to the elite desk, they said that the W14 is perfectly valid for the nights I'm staying there.
Aren't W14 and 014 awards taken from the same pool, or are they treated differently?
I want to finally be able to use my W14's, but not spend extra points to do so.
Some details: Renaissance Chicago, checking in Oct 11, checking out Oct 14 (Columbus Day Weekend).
Any help appreciated.

My understanding of their usage is the same as yours.
I would start by calling the hotel direct and checking on the situation. Additionally, guest services might help.
Lastly, you might just make the award reservation and show up with the W14's. If you are an elite with Marriott, I don't see them turning you down.
