Renaissance Orlando Worldgate?

Anyone have any feedback concerning the Renaissance Worldgate? I'm looking at a $80 rate and would appreciate info as compared to other properties near Orlando/Disney.

I've searched and most of the discussion about Orlando Marriott properties has been on the resorts.

The Renaissance WorldGate Hotel is the former Inn at Maingate and the former Doubletree Orlando Resort Resort and Conference Center.

I've never stayed there. The price seems good for a Renaissance property. Depending upon the time of year, that may of may not be a good price for a WDW area hotel.

It's not in Orlando. It's in Kissimmee (south of WDW).

I'd avoid this hotel if you are expecting the typical Renaissance experience. I was there about a month ago with 3 co-workers. The hotel appeared to be a conversion from another chain and not quite up to the expected standards. The air conditioning in 2/3 rooms had to be worked on while we were there and the other couldn't keep up with the heat. The pool was small for a Orlando hotel. The room itself was nothing special.

I guess you get what you pay for in this case. For Marriott properties, I'd recommend the Marriott Worldgate. It runs ~$179, but the pool area alone is just about worth it.

There is no Marriott Worldgate but you surely mean the Orlando Marriott World Center Resort. Very nice property indeed, even my favorite choice in Orlando!

The Renaissance seems to routinely go on Priceline at $35/night at the moment (3 star WDW).

For me it is not worth it as the location is poor for my needs.

I stayed for 3 days in the beginning of June and would never consider this again. Up until recently I thought Marriott policed their hotels better than this to make surethey were up to their brand names. I've stayed in much better Fairfield's.
The room was a nice size with a large bathroom but all were in poor condition. The excercize room while large had at least 3 cardio machines broken. No signs on them just didn't work. The power cords of both treadmills were rubbing against the tread to the point both had exposed wires. Asked for a quiet room and was put near the elevator and vending machines.
Brought this to the attention of the manager who suprisingly said there was no money to fix the problems.
This hotel was cheap and now I know why.

I stayed at this property when it was the Doubletree.

If the hotel has not been renovated since then, then I would not recommend staying here at an $80 rate. If you can get a Priceline rate for $40 or less, then I would stay here.

As mentioned in a separate posting, this hotel is not up to the usual high Renaissance standards. It reminded me more of a nice Best Western or Holiday Inn.
