i joined the marriott programme whilst staying at the marriott in islamabad in dec 2001

i received a temporary card which went missing when my wallet was stolen

i have never receieved a permanent card from marriott rewards.

in dec i paid a bill which ammounted to $9000 dollars. i still have a copy of this bill. am i entitled to reward points for this transaction ?

Yes, you should get points for that particular transaction. I beleive you are in the UK, so fax your bill to 44 207 591 1130. You do need to provide your name and membership number (which should be on the bill itself). If in the US, then fax to 1-801-832-4570.

i will check if my membership numbert was on the bill, but i dont believe it was as i joined marriott rewards at the same time as i paid the bill.

the staff who took the money assured me that the points would be credited, but they never were. and i have never received a statment / permanent card from marriott

do you think i have lost them. is there any way of verifying this ?

Since it sounds like your card was lost/stolen and the points were never posted, I would call Customer service first to find out what your number is. They should be able to look up your information in the system presuming it ever got entered in teh first place. If for whatever resaon it didn't, they could probably help you enroll again and get a number assigned. Once you have that information, you can fax your receipt to have you account credited. Let them know that you never received a permanent card and to please send you another. There should not be a problem getting credit for your stay. You just have to make sure they have your MR # number connected with that stay.

You certainly don't want to miss out on the points for a bill that large!

Marriott rewards seems more flexible than other hotel programs for retroactively crediting miles/points.

I stayed at a Courtyard New Orleans in Jan 01 and joined the program in Mar 01 and they let me fax in my hotel bill as proof of stay and credited the miles to my FF acount. Was impressed they did this since I actually hadn't joined the program until after that stay in the Big Easy

A permanent number is far more important then the permanent card!
