I have received a suggestion to contact the online concierge in advance of my stay to request an upgrade. i am not sure how to do this. Can someone help? The property is Marriott Harbor Beach. Thank you!

this could have (should have) been added to your previous thread. That said, if you are platinum (as I think you said you were), you will receive an e-mail about a week before your arrival giving the opportunity to make requests.

billycwhatup is correct. I'm going to MCO and I just got an email from virtual concierge asking for any special accommodations. I requested an upgrade based on my PLT status and got a response today from a Marriott rep saying they had noted my reservation and were eager to see us there. I liked it

I did get the virtual concierge email today and when I clicked on the room upgrade option this is what it said:

Description: Request based on availability upon arrival.
Fee*: Please contact the Front Desk for upgrade fee

Any sugestions?

Thanks.

Not sure why this has to be done manually. I have to call every time to request for an upgrade before check-in. Many of the domestic hotels (especially the ones in the Bay area) simply ignore the requests until check-in.

The virtual concierge is good but upgrade requests should be automatically made for Platinum members.

This is for paid upgrade. I usually enter my free upgrade request in the comment box at the bottom.

It may sound strange, but some travellers do not prefer upgrade - the extra walking distance within the room!

correct............. and the paid upgrade would guarantee you get it and waiting to show up without the pre-payment leaves it basically to luck so if you really want that upgrade, pay up...........

That's what I do.

I usually say something along the lines of "I'd appreciate an upgrade if possible. I realize it's based on availability, but any consideration/assistance is greatly appreciated. I look forward to my stay at your property".

Cheers.
