Rome Marriott

Is it possible to go over regular rewards customer service to place an anytime award. I tried to place a anytime award and was told they are not excepting them in Rome during my planned vacation time. I am a Gold level member. I went through past topics and couldn't find any examples of someone overcoming a blackouted out time by this hotel.

According to the Marriott Rewards website, you call 1-800-Marriott to book Anytime awards. Considering that the entire purpose of those awards is to override blackouts and capacity controls, something is not adding up. (The only way those become unavailable is if the hotel is truly sold out.)
