Returning "Free" certificates for points

When we bought a MArriott Time Share, we "earned" two reward certificates for a 3 night and a 7 night at a select Marriott. Looking at the reward chart they are worth about 150K points. I was wondering if I would be able to return them to Marriott for credit of points (so I could combine them for a choice award or I may wait and get the new catagory 7 award).
Has anyone ever tried this, I look at the certificate and it looks like the normal one I get but I notice the last line on conditions says "may not be redeemed for reward points".
Do they all the rewards say that, or is this one special.

Looks as though you are stuck. The hotel certificates for 713/714 awards say something like "may be returned for points by paying a nominal fee."

back seat -

Have you really returned the type of certificate that rthib refers to? Or have you returned award certificates such as the 713 and 714? There is a big difference. One type states you can't return it. The other states that you can.

Sorry I stand corrected - I have only returned the 713 certificates.
