Points to Miles Transfer Question

I'm interested in transferring some of my Marriott Rewards points to Delta SkyMiles.

a. Can you only transfer points to your own airline account or to anyone's (I'd like to move points from my account to my sisters)?

b. How long does the transfer take?

Thank you.

You can only transfer miles to a FF acct that is in your name. We wanted the FF miles for a 713 to go into my FF acct at United. The rewards # is in my husband's name. Marriott flat out said it could not be done. There is only one way around this. I opened at Marriott Reward acct in my name and got a separate acct. #. My husband can then request that points be transferred into my rewards # from his acct. Once this has been done then I can call and claim the award and have the FF miles put into my United FF acct. trust Marriott to make things difficult all the way around.

Follow up to previous post. We just completed this transfer process last night. My husband called Marriott and requested a transfer of points from his rewards # to mine for a 713 award. Marriott faxed him a form which we both had to sign. We faxed the form back and Marriott immediately transferred the points. I thought I would then have to call and request the 713 award from my account but they did the whole transaction at once depositing the FF miles to my United account
