Making two reservations on same night
I wasn't able to find anything on a search, and am relatively new to the Marriott program, so hoping I could get help with a question.
I'm looking at a couple of different properties for a one night stay in Bangkok in Dec. At this point, not sure if I want to splurge on the JW (or Ren, maybe) or just book at the Courtyard.
If I were to make a reservation (refundable - likely AAA rates) at two different properties on the same night, will one get automatically canceled? I'm not planning on canceling anything last minute - I plan to cancel whichever one I decide not to use well before the stay date, but I understand December is high season in Thailand, so also don't want to end up paying a higher rate than they're charging now. If I put one of the reservation's in my wife's name instead of mine, will this change anything?
Any thoughts or experience?

no, the system will not CXL one of your reservations, but you'll have to remember to CXL one of them before the CXL date otherwise you might wind up paying for both
December is considered high-season here, but more so down in the beach areas such as Phuket.............. I've seen better deals offered in December/January (looking at website for friends coming into the LoS) by several props here so once you decide IMO search the site about once a week for new offer rates posted and you might be pleasantly surprised...

BTW, since you'll only stay in BKK 1-night, IMO don't let price be your sole guideline as each of your 3-listed choices (JW, Ren, CY) have their own pros and cons and depending upon your actual visit the new Marriott on Sukhumvit is expected to be opening and if so will likely have soft-opening promo
Thanks for the tips. Yes, definitely plan to search throughout as well in case better rates are offered - its actually great to be able to snag a rate when it looks semi-decent to make sure it doesn't get higher, but not necessarily be held to that in the case they get lower (unlike, say, the airlines).
