Ritz-Carltons & Marriotts - 2 questions

1. Do you earn Marriott Rewards points for stays at RC's? If so, is the 10pts/$ rate?

2. Can Marriott gift certificates be used at RC's?

For the checking I did at the Marriott website, it appears that the answer to both questions might be no (RC was not mentioned in either section). However, I'm not quite sure I know the relationship between Marriott and Ritz-Carltons.

Jeff, As far as I know they no longer give points for stays at the RC. You could call Marriott Rewards to make sure. They should be able to answer both questions.

Not only that, but the nights do not even count toward platinum elite status.

I did get a RC certificate issued using Marriott points two months ago. 5 nights for 200,000 points.

Ritz's view has always been if you can afford to stay at a Ritz you don't need the points So no, no points. Though I do believe you can redeem a LOT of Marriott Rewards points for stays still, like bagold did.

Having stayed at the Ritz in Philadelphia I can see why they feel this way.

Actually I believe it is just "some" RC's, but don't have the specifics at hand!

But at 40k/night, well!

But they are super hotels in general!

Returning soon to NYC too!

No points R earned at RC or Concorde Hotels. 1000 points R given w New Otani Hotels (Japan).

However, U can claim award stays in all three of the above chains. See membership guide P 9 or visit
