CLOSING IN ON PLAT REQUAL.

Good News - I found out today from the Guest Services people that tonight at Fairfield Inn is Night # 74 towards requalifying for PLT.

They also told me I have until 12/31 to earn the final night - this should not be a problem because I have 2 Marriott stays scheduled in Sept.

How are y'all doing?

WOW - 195 nights. I am impressed - did you ever get to go home?

When you say last year, I assume you mean in 1999?

Enjoy - where is your favorite Concierge Lounge?

Made the 75 nights in April, since then I haven't bothered counting.

on a long term assignment you can sometimes negotiate a lower rate that will allow you to stay checked in even when you go home on weekends without any additional cost. so rather than $149/nite for 4 nites a week, you pay $99/nite for 7 and get the nights stay.

I will get about 180 nites in one reservation this year (6/4-12/31) and maybe 365 next year. in addition, when i go to another city and stay in a marriott, i will also get the nights stay there as well as the points!

fparker: I wouldn't be so sure, I often stay checked-in a hotel rather than pack and then unpack everything, if I am just skipping away for a night - Marriott have always denied me the crediting of two nights for the same actual night, although on appeal they will grant the miles.

I would fight that. If you are paying for the room, the credit for the night is yours, regardless of whether you were in the room or not.

I routinely do exactly that...I was long term in Chicago a few months back. I was at the Schaumburg for about 4 months and never checked out. Three times I moved into a Courtyard in Arlington Heights since it was closer to the office! I also did Marriott's outside of the city and state. I have always recieved 30 days for the Schaumburg stay plus all my other stays.
