I've stayed at the Ren in Paris (near La Defense) Hotel itself was decent. It's a short metro or RER ride to the main areas of Paris. Not as convenient as the new Paris Marriott but it was a THIRD of the price. Can't beat that.
I stayed at the Tokyo REN 2 weeks ago - what a dump! Fantastic location in the Ginza but the rooms were VERY small and in need of a renovation. All the signage still said Ramada even though it's part of Marriott. Trouble is the Marriott in Tokyo is geographically undesirable so it's back to the Century Hyatt for me.

In Nashville, it's just a question of where you want to stay. The Marriott is at the airport, the Renaissance is downtown.
