Wow, what a stir!
I traveled with a companion and put her nights on my MR number. Should those stays count towards my night requirement for the bonus? |
dingo: As long as the stay was registered under your name using your MR# I see no reason why it would not count towards Marquis status and which ever bonus applies to you.

I just threw out their offer of 20K/18
nights. Starwoods free friday and weekly $50 is a little more fair. Until they start being a liitle more fair on these promotions I'm just not going to give them any of my business. So there ! |
Since NONE of my emails were responded to. I decided to call Marriott Rewards in SLC today(on MY dime).M/R rep" Oh, you were offered NOTHING". ME > I say "EXCUSE ME That's funny Hyatt, Starwood are offering frequent stay bonuses. And my business associates and friends have received offers for bonus points. Hum.... Does that seem like a fair way to treat one of your best Marquie members??" Silence Silence... Clicking, Clicking... on key board by M/R rep. M/R rep " We will give you 5000 M/R points for 6 nites from 12/15/99 to 3/31/2000." Fine.... I take it....
As one of last few posters said better something than nothing.... Marriott you run a consistant operation... I respect you for that and that is WHY I am so loyal to your various brands 99% hotels and resorts.. Keep it up! A satisfied customer. As noted earlier, I received no offers from Marriott as a Platinum member. So...I would like to call attention to the wonderful promo that Hilton has going on now thru March 31 with AA that is open to everyone! 2000 AA bonus miles for every 2 stays. That is in addition to the regular 500 miles per stay. Basically this translates to 1500 miles/stay. If you are doing short stays, this is an excellent way to build miles. Different promos, not as lucrative as the AA deal, exist with UA, DL, CO, NW, and SW.

I talked to a supervisor and was told that the offers varied based on the hotels you have historically visited. Therefore, a member who stays at Marriott hotels would get a richer offer than one who stays at Courtyard or Fairfield.
Seems to make sense that someone who stays 6 nights at the NY Marquis should get more points than someone who stays at a less expensive hotel. |
I got 6 nights/5K offer but I started staying more at Renaissance and Marriott this year. Too bad the offer was BASED on last year's history which was only 1 CY stay. I stayed at following last year:
6 Renaissance 1 Marriott 1 CY 1 RI I'll be opting for Hilton from now on for business stays (it would gone to Renaissance). For same amount of stay I get as least 9K AA miles (including 6K bonus miles) and HH points. BTW my stays are short ones usually 1 night stay. I guess this is another downside of targeted promotion, if are not careful (or up to date on your info) it will offend the targetted customer. BTW my wife got 3 nights/5K offer even though she didn't have any stay last year. ------------------ Dan "It is not doing the things we like to do, but liking the things we have to do, that makes life blessed." - Goethe |
Anybody out there still have their 18 nights/40,000 points bonus information? I received the offer, but chucked it thinking I wouldn't qualify.
Now I'm going to have to read the fine print, as I'll be splitting my time between a full Marriott and an ExecuStay and may need to do battle to get my bonus. Would anyone be willing to fax or mail the promo letter to me? |
am i the only Platinum who got the 15 nights - 35,000 (not 40,000) point offer?
just curious - thanks. |
This is one heck of a thread. I wonder what the records are!

Once again, I presume this is for the US only? As a regular "Black" Marquis member, we get absolutely nothing from Marriott over here whatsoever, and they have some of the finest establishments anywhere, (courtesy of the franchise owned by Whitbread)

Thanks dingo!

Any time bokich.
Mike, where is 'over here?' I wasn't aware of many international (European) Marriotts to speak of. I think they had a few in England and one in Italy? |
Mike - I'm pretty sure that the offer is valid for all members worldwide. A colleague of mine in Germany got the stay 10 nights and receive 20,000 points offer. I would call their center in London.
Dingo - Marriott has about 100 locations outside the US, including several dozen in the UK. They also just acquired another 40 hotels in the UK under the Swallow brand, but I don't know anything about these hotels. Typically, Marriott hotels are in the gateway cities (London, Paris, Hong Kong, Sydney, Rome, etc). |
Not to mention there is a good number of Renaissance hotels internationally....
