Points Preference Ignored by New Marriott System

I was checking my Marriott Rewards statement on-line the other day and noticed that for my last two stays, I had been credited UA MileagePlus miles instead of Marriott Rewards points, this in spite of the fact that my earning preference was indicated as "points" on the top of my statement.

I called the service center and spoke to a very nice agent, who told me that there had been an error in a new version of their computer program that caused members to be awarded in miles if they had ever at any time had "miles" as their earning preference and had given Marriott a FF number. He said he had received many such calls already, and that it was a simple matter for him to correct the problem.

When I checked my statement this morning, the points were credited correctly.

I had same problem with a stay back in late October. I was earning points and received UA miles instead. Marriott corrected when I called so I ended up with points & miles for that one stay.
