Double Dip by Marriott
I just checked out of the PHX Marriott and upon checkout was asked for my FF number. Since I am trying to get the 5,000 bonus point for 3 stays, I was surprised and asked "You mean, I can earn point and miles on the same stay?" and was told "Yes, ever since they did away with the bonus points you can."
I gave him my AA number and we shall see if I get both.
Anyone have a comment on this?

This is interesting. Please let us all know if you do get both points and miles!

Sorry to say, as you probably no, it is not very likely. Possibly the front desk clerk was new or just uninformed. I've always had to choose and am not aware of any promotion such as this. She may have been confused about the ongoing bonus with I believe each three stays netting (I think) an additional 5k points! Time will tell. Good luck ing trying to get both. Like they say in the lottery commercial "you never know."

I doubt if Marriott would have added this benefit without telling us, or without challenging Hilton's claim that they are now the only major program to offer double dip.
This year I received communication from Marriott about the increase in marquis bonus, and the inclusion of Renaissance for marquis qualifications. But they were silent about the elimination of air/car bonuses. When I wrote to them about it they replied to me:
"Our partnerships with the airlines are in the process undergoing very exciting changes. Some of these changes will make it much easier for our members to travel using points."

I called Marriott rewards and they said, as we suspected, that one has to choose between points and miles.
Jimboliguy: Maybe this a promotion at that particular location?
Good luck

Beware of new receptionists! Not only misinformation - double dipping (LOL) - but my husband had one mistakenly wipe out 3 months of stays from his account. I spent about an hour with a supervisor getting everything back. We were both amazed that an inept deskie could even do this much damage. I was glad I had kept records because she took my word for everything and I knew dates, car and airline bonuses, etc. I needed the supervisor because the cust ser agent I talked to first told me that computers NEVER make mistakes. Me! A former programmer! No point in even talking to her.
