Marriott/VISA bonus
Has anyone seen the 5,000/15,000 point bonuses that were promised for 3/5 stays charged to a VISA card recently?

I don't remember seeing that one, but that doesn't mean it isn't there. I have a good memory, it's just short.
Marriott does have something similar to what you describe, but it doesn't require charging your stay to any particular card. Here is the text I copied from their web site:
For every third stay you make at Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites and participating
Renaissance Hotels and Resorts between February 21 and September 6, 1999,
Marriott Rewards will give you 5,000 bonus points -- up to a maximum of 25,000
points!
It doesn't say that you have to register for this, but there IS provision for doing so on their web site, so I'd sign up anyway and not take any chances.

I got that bonus. Had one business stay at the conference center near Chicago, three personal trips to Nashville at three different Courtyards, and finished it off with a night at the Fairfield near my house (my first time to do something like that *just* for the bonus). It's not running anymore, but I might add it was way better than the current promo.

It ran from Oct 1 98 to Jan 31 1999.
I got the 5000 miles for the 1st 3 stays but
the 10000 for the 4th and 5th stay hasn't shown up yet since those 2 Marriott stays
in January weren't creditted yet (yep...I'm
sending another letter and copy of the
receipts)

I got the first bonus but when I called the Service Centre they told me that one of the extra 2 stays wasn't paid on VISA.
Turns out I'd guaranteed it on Amex and than switched when I paid.
Go the points in the end but be warned.

I had no problem getting the 5,000 and then the 10,000 bonus points. Both were credited within a week after I had earned them. As for the current bonus program, I should earn another 5,000 bonus points this week. I will let you know if there are any problems.
