advice on spending points vs staying elsewhere

i plan to stay a week in Vegas on leisure and it seems to me that I can get a better value out of my 150k points that staying in marriott there. I could stay somewhere else for around $500.
Am I wrong that the points would have better use for something more exotic?

thanks guys for being a sounding board :-)

I'd say unless you plan on staying at the Cosmo during a peak time when the price is sky high, there are better uses for points.

+1

Since the base price for the city room in Cosmo is around 160$ (they ve been really generous with upgrades), a better option is to order $1000 Marriott checks for 135K MR points.

That way, you ll save 15K points and you will earn night credit and points (another 15K)!!
