Clarification Needed on Q1
Needs some clarification from fellow FT'ers on the Marriott Q1 promo which seems to start Feb 1 (what do we do in January???).
I signed on to the marriott website, accepted my promotion for a Whopping 2 Free Nights at Category 1 to 4 Hotels (which is a joke in my opinion) But I understand that you can talk with customer service and go for Mega Bonus points based on the number of nights stayed. Is there anything for Points?
I heard discussion that there was a way to get 2000 air miles for each night stay and since I do not fly, this is my way to get airline miles.
Can my fellow FT'ers please clarify what all is all available from Marriott for Q1 and by when so I can then call customer service and try to get switched to it?
And PS, do they still status match on top of this?

There are about three version of Megabonus promo:
1. earn 2 free nights after 4 stays
2. 40K after 25 nights
3. 50K points after 25 nights
MegaMiles promo is earn 2,000 bonus miles with every stay beginning with the second stay.
These promos are targeted. To switch between Megabonus and MegaMiles you will probably have to change you earning preference to Miles. With that said, you might have contact MR customer services to have that promo on your account. MR reps have been pretty good with switching between the versions of Megabonus for me as Plat. You could call anytime for the switch between versions of Megabonus and it will be noted on their system but you won't see it on your account. After the promo call to make sure that you will have earned the right bonus.
Status challenge is separate and they are could be done of top of the promos. I didn't do a challenge but that's what I understand from reading the forum.

But as you've been already told in response to these incessant silly threads in other forums, there is a Marriott miles promo (2000 bonus miles on every stay starting with your second stay) that starts Jan 1 (and ends Apr 30). So that's what you can do in January!
To see the miles promo that starts Jan 1, go into your account and change your earning preference to miles. Then revisit Promotion Central and it'll be right there in front you. You can't see Marriott points promos that you haven't registered for yet when your earning preference is set to miles, and you can't see Marriott miles promos that you haven't registered for yet when you earning preference is set to points. However, once you register, you can see both without changing your preference again, though you'll only earn in tthe one that corresponds to your earning preference that you leave in effect.
