Wrong guy with my MR# on his reservation
Checked my MR account last Friday and it said my next reservation began that day in a resort. I knew I wasn't going there and had not made the reservation, so I cancelled it. Next day my account still showed the ressie and said "In progress".
Looked at the detailed ressie and, yep, same first and last name, but a different email address. Interestingly, his ressie was made by his company travel office, which is American Express Travel, which is also my company travel office. Luckily, it showed the last 4 numbers of his credit card, not mine.
Called MR and they attempted to fix it, but Sunday it was still "In progress". Finally, just called the guy's hotel room and told him he should see the front desk or I would be getting his MR points. He said he had trouble checking in because someone (me) had cancelled his reservation.
Don't know if this happened at AmEx travel or what. Given that I saw it before he checked in, I'm thinking it was AmEx.
Today it's gone. Keep an eye on your MR account...

Or if he commits a rape in the room, can't say you weren't warned. Call Amex and let them fix it. They screwed it up.

I used to have a similar issues with RCC in London. Someone with the same first and last name as me was a regular there and I've seen his reservations on my account. Never got his points though!
Also on a couple of occasions, they gave me a registration card with his address on it.

Since they have his name, his email and his credit card on the res, I'm not too worried about damage or felonies committed by him.

FWIW, one time I had several res show up in my account. Got the e-mail confirmations.
Had no idea where they came from.
Went online and canceled them as it was the week-end.
Call Marriott the next week and asked them what was going on. Apparently if an agent doesn't complete clear the information from the last member to call they can accidentally book it under the wrong MR#.
Similarly, I had a Ritz Carlton in China cancel a res I had in the US. Apparently the front desk clerk had fat fingered the MR # for someone canceling at their property and they wound up wit my number.
So your situation does not shock me.

This happened to me once - 2 nits at a FS in LA. Didn't see it before the stay, but I was credited the points. I contacted MR to make sure I didn't get charged on my card on file - they assured me no. I ended up getting the pts (nothing big) but would be leery abt somehow getting charged for damages. He will need To give credit card on checkin, so you should be good...but if they mess up something like a MR number then who is To say they wont botch the cc number too.
