Angry My Suite smells like Vomit???

I just checked into a one bedroom suite at the Renaissance XXXX and one side of the bedroom smells like vomit. The Renaissance I'm staying at has a club downstairs, which is probably what contributed to the vomit.....I was told that the hotel was sold out and couldn't put me in another room. They sent a bellman up with a spray to mask the smell, but I can still smell it. Even the bellman said "wow, I'm sorry. This never should have happened" The other side is fine and I'm hoping that the smell won't wake me up..... GRRR

I'm going to talk to whomever is in charge tomorrow (Sunday) and see if I can get some compensation. I'm on company travel, so having the room on the house wouldn't do me any good.

What is a fair compensation to you guys, if you were in my situation?

I'm a platinum member averaging over 150+ nights in FS hotels a year.

Rough, but better than your sweetie smelling like vomit...

Your stay history is irrelevant in a case like this. They should give you a break on the room rate or something, but they should also give you that if you had never stayed in a Marriott.

Were you paid suite or upgraded? They'll probably move you to another suite, I wouldn't expect more than that.

I was upgraded and they couldn't move me to another room as it was sold out due to some sort of event.

I'm going to speak with the manager on duty before I check out today. I had to use the pull out sofa in the middle of the night.

The shower door was missing too! The hinge is still there, but no door. I just realized this when I went into the shower this morning!

And they charged me for parking when I took a cab to the hotel from the airport.

btw, it's room 1904.

Worse Renaissance so far. I'm heading to the Renaissance STL Airport and Marriott St. Louis Union Station, let's hope the rooms are much better!

They gave me 40K points and comped the room.

The hotels are apparently designed without shower doors.

Decent resolution. Be grateful you are not going to stay at the STL Grand Renaissance, at least according to Tripadvisor reviews.

Had this happen to me a few years back at an SHS in suburban Minneapolis. My stay wound up being comped and I also got points. (I forget exactly how many).

When in St. Louis, do NOT stay at the Grand Renaissance downtown. It will make you WISH the only issues were a missing shower door or a stench of vomit.

I actually stayed at the Renaissance STL airport for a night then realized there was nothing there. Now I'm at the Marriott Union Station. Got a nice upgrade and love the decor.

Although, they seem to let anyone and everybody into their concierge lounge.
