As others have stated, I have done this with points before. A few years ago my mother booked me a room with her points, then called and added my name to the reservation. Was never an issue, even when I went to the front desk to add an additional night, they asked if I wanted to continue using points or pay cash for it!
You can book a room in another persons name with points but certs are supposed to be only for the persons name listed on the cert.

As stated above, it is 99.99% likely they won't give a hoot, and also won't be able to tell the difference between the kind of cert you used.
