Value of MR Points

There have been several posts about the value of MR Points. The most direct transfer is 135,000 points for $1,000 in gift checks ($.0074/point). Does anyone know what the franchise properties get compensated by MI for point stays? Do they get compensated at all?

Careful on using $1000/135K points; you generate an additional 10K points for $1K spend at most properties (granted, some earn 5pts/$ rather than 10).

So a more realistic calculation is $1000/125K pts = $.008/pt.

For those that use air/hotel vacation packages, that's probably more bang to the buck. However, I've got airline pass priveleges so that gets me nothing.

I recently redeemed the $1K in Marriott Cheques for 135k points, not realizing until I received the confirmation email after the fact that all of the cheques had to be used within 12 months or they will expire. I was hoping to spread usage out over a couple of years, so I returned them to Marriott knowing I won't burn through them that fast.

You can't buy the points at that rate.

I believe the 135,000 points can be redeemed for $1000.00 in Marriott gift checks only if you are a platinum member.

Not true; all elite members can get it. I just checked with my wife's account - she's a silver. She's able to get $1000 for 135K pts.

Here's a link: https://www.marriott.com/rewards/mor...points=135,000

Take on the challenge of par-defying golf. Enjoy spectacular dining experiences from dawn to dusk...or, give as a gift to make any occasion special. All at 25% off the regular point amount.

The choice is yours through December 31, 2011.

Ignore 31 Dec 2011; they always renew it. They haven't changed the point level required (135K) in the three or four years I've been redeeming points for gift cheques.
