Question Regarding Booking
First off, I apologize for what I'm sure is a rookie question..
With that said, I'm a Marriott PL member and my husband gave me a trip to Chicago. However, since I'm the "Julie, your cruise director" in our family, he utilized a TA to book airfare and hotel at the Chicago Marriott. I want to make sure that they know my status before I check in, so is it best to call the hotel and give them my name, check-in date and # before I get there or wait until I get there?
Thanks in advance!

Call them or have the TA do it. Properties tend to preassign rooms and them knowing your status and that it's a special event just might help score a much better room. Might also be wise to check if you can get a better rate than the TA.
Enjoy the trip.

Thanks Roger. Hubby gave the TA the information, but I think I'll call the hotel directly to ensure I get the perks.

You can also check on line to see if there is a record of your stay with your MR number on the reservation.

I have to call frequently as my company will book a block of rooms. I just call the Gold res line and they handle it very quickly.

Did he use a traditional FA or an OTA? Both traditional FA's and OTA's can offer "packaged" airfare/hotel which wont earn you points/night credit (at full service hotels you'll still earn incidental point credit though) BUT you will still be given all elite benefits...OTA's are most likely to offer a wholesaler package but traditional FA's can as well
If he booked "retail" rates then you'll also earn points on the room rate/night credit
