Visa (Chase) CC
I got an email stating:
Earn a Free Night Stay + 22,500 Bonus Points. That's Enough for 4 Free Nights! Plus, Act Fast to Get a $75 Statement Credit to Get You Started.
I did close my card in 2009.
The email states for various aspects of this promo:
and existing Marriott Rewards Credit Card Cardmembers are not eligible for this bonus offer
What does Chase would do, if I apply?

Why would they do anything? You are not a Marriott Chase CC holder anymore.

It sounds like you used to have the card but don't anymore!? I did that with the Southwest Visa card a few years ago and I got the credits the second time. Was probably a year or two in the middle where I didn't have the card. No problem!

You might check into this more if you apply. I know alot of the airline cards state that you are only eligible for this once. So, you can't re-sign up and cancel every few years for the bonus. If you have been a member before, you may end up with an annual fee with no bonus points. Check the fine print on this one.
