How to count the number of guest?

Maybe it sounds a little bit stupid but I really wonder how to count to number of guest in a room during a stay.

I want to book online by Marriott-website a stay for my wife, our 2 children (3 years and 2 month old) and me in one room. So do I have to choose 4 guests (the obvious choice) or do children/infants count "less" than adults?

I always leave it at one guest. Never had an issue.

This isn't a big issue in the US, but in Europe there are far more rooms that are too small for more than 2 people. If you are booking in Europe, I would be sure to include the kids in your numbers to be certain that there is room for them.

Also, if the bedding in the room you reserve is a king, don't expect them to put more than one roll-away or crib in the room for the kids. Doing so may violate the fire code. So, wherever you stay, be certain that your double/double or double/queen bedding selection is in the reservation. For now your youngest may be able to share your bed, or you may be able to use my old trick of using a dresser drawer as a bassinet.

I have found that sometimes setting it to >2 will stop some properties from showing up even though you can still get a room with two doubles. I'd make youre reservation with it set at 1 or 2 then call reservations and get them to confirm a room with two beds.

When I was in the UK I couldn't book the hotel I wanted if I specified 4 people but had no issue with the hotel and a room with two doubles once I called.

I have had issues with getting a roll away and crib in the same room before so be sure to check with the hotel if you have those kinds of plans!
