Has anyone tried to join the promotion as a Gold?

I currently have Gold status but only 25 nights this year (and maybe 5 more) but will definetly will stay more than 8 nights within the next 90 days. Therefore it would be nice to keep my status unitil Feb 2012 (instead of Feb 2011).

For me this is THE BEST TIMED PROMO EVER. I'll spend 15 nights on company money with Marriot between now and last of Feb.

I'm ecstatic, no longer while I have to settle for crummy Radisson hotels because of my status with them that has been dragging on like a bad marriage.

+1 on this question, I find myself in the same boat. My gap Elite Membership Renewal isn too wide to close by Dec 31, but I already have six nights planned between now and Jan 15th.

I posted information in the HSBC thread about not being able to register for both promotions--since by registering for Air China promotion first--it supersedes any other registration at a later time. You have to spend 12 nights--not 8 (HSBC)--and be registered as receiving air miles with Air China to keep Gold after 90 days. Best of luck.

Oh-so-thank-U, Kangseh & Derby44! I have chosen the HBSC promo because I've no use for Air China miles (I'm not a member) & I do want to earn Marriott points + my Not-So-MegaBonus.

Does anyone know if you get approved for this promo, but choose to earn Marriott points rather than Air China miles...will you still qualify for Gold with 12 stays?

I just noticed that Kangseh's link says 'for Chinese addresses only!' I live in the USA but I got my Gold status within a day or 2 like everyone else.

It says register by March 31 in one sentence then enjoy gold status until March 31 in another.

I have a stay in May and was hoping to still have the Gold Status then if I didn't sign up until February
