Abilene Residence Inn

I looked, but had not found anything in the forum regarding this property.

This is my second stay here as a platinum, and I have to give it ^^^.

Last night I arrived for my one night stay. I called from the airport (2 gates AA only). The shuttle picked me up promptly and brought along a bottle of water for me. I was telling asking the driver about dining options as it was 8:30 and after the social hour. While I was checking in, the driver thoughtfully went to the social host who agreed to prepare me a plate from the evening social. The hotel is new, fresh, clean and well maintained!

Definitely above and beyond.

I arrive to my room with a small typed note outlining my MR profile requests and for the FIRST TIME IN MY ROAD WARRIOR LIFE, there was todays newspaper and the extra pillows I requested. The room was clean with nothing overlooked!

I had explained to the FD clerk I had some appointments today and could rent a car, take a taxi or if there was a shuttle. He offered the shuttle and took the address. Come today, I find this was about a 10 mile drive, but they took me roundtrip with no complaints.

Now, I am NOT a big fan of Marriott. The best thing that happened to me was making Platinum 3 years ago, it allowed me to experience upgrades and weekend lounges at SPG and HH. I realize my gripe is with MR, wishing RI were 10 points, not 5, CY had ANY platinum recognition and there were breakfasts for Plats! This is one I would encourage everyone to not miss!

I was there with the family last weekend (labor day weekend). I had a reservation for two 1-bedroom suites. When I made the reservation a few days before our arrival, they still had one 2-bedroom suite available and were willing to upgrade us to it if it didn't get sold. Unfortunately, someone picked it up before we arrived. But I did like that management was willing to give the upgrade to me, if available.

Overall, I thought the hotel was a nice, new RI and seem well run. ^
