Points when paying with marriott cheques

Taxes!
The bright side to getting the rate reduced when paying by the Marriott Checks is that the taxes are now calculated on the reduced base rate.
This may not be much in some places but pricey cities like New York where a base spend of $1000 is likely to result in atleast an additional $150 in taxes.

On the rear of the certs they state:
1. This Cheque Award is VALID at all JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Renaisance Hotels, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Courtyard by Marriott, Fairfield Inn by Marriott, Springhill Suites by Marriott, Residence Inn by Marriott, Townplace Suites by Marriott, and Marriott Vacation Club locations. This Cheque Award is NOT VALID at Marriott ExecuStay or Marriott Executive Apartments.
So.... dunno. Mine may have been printed before the EDITION hotels released. You're the guinea pig, tag you're it... :-)

did not know if "edition" counted as marriott because i don't believe it has the word marriott in its name
