Coming Back
Company forced all staff to HIE this year in PA. Told my boss today ain't worth it. Rate is same and I am going back, she says fine.
So, called the local Marriott in PA and know the GM well. She does a status match for me to Gold and says welcome back. I used to stay at this hotel min 60 nights for 7 years and they always had 3 Miller Lites in my fridge on check in days.
So, 1- glad to be coming back and 2- has anything changed for Gold. ie more advantages, points, upgrades, etc? Thanks.

Marriott had a big devaluation earlier this year. Platinum members got a bump up to 50 % for the point bonus. Lounge offerings and free weekend breakfast (an unofficial benefit) in many US FS properties have been cut back. Some of the overseas lounges have had cutbacks as well (in certain European properties outside of London and Paris).
EEOs (the buy one get one free coupons available to gold and platinum members for weekend stays and dinners at participating properties) are now online only, but you can print and use multiple copies per participating period.
Get the Marriott Premier Visa card if you do not have it already since it gives 15 nights a year towards elite status.

And I'm right behind you. And am happy about it. Wasn't my choice to go away either.
