I think the OP is really referring to a thousand little cuts, and this might be possible a last straw (the jr clerk etc). That's saying a lot cuz he's a pretty loyal Marriott person. Everyone has their breaking point.

FWIW - I should be dead by now cuz I never wash the glasses or the cups, and truthfully never thought much about it until this thread.

But then again I haven't watched the video re: the glasses, nor watched the one that shows all the germs & bugs on the comforters, the phone handle, the remote control, the walking across the floor barefoot, etc. My bad. Of course if I did watch those, I might never leave my house or stay in a hotel or fly on a plane or rent a car

OMG - I just realized, I live life on the edge! No safety for me. I'm adventurous

Cheers.

Somehow I'm reminded, a little off-topically, of checking into our timeshare and one of our guests immediately headed into the kitchen where she proceeded to wash every dish in the kitchen. There were dishes still warm from just being washed in the dishwasher - she washed those, too. Asked her why and she said because that's what her mother does.

Well, somehow, I've managed to survive 30 years of travel and all that scary hotel glassware That's not to say that I'll pick up a glass without taking a look at it before using. I also usually rinse first.

But perhaps even more amazing....and "adventurous"....is being a practicing Catholic who's survived all those years of going to communion!

I have stayed 40+ nights in Marriotts, CYs, and Renaissance hotels this year. I just checked into the New Orleans Marriott on Canal St and have encountered the plastic glasses for the first time. It is a big time disappointment.

It's legal to drink out of a plastic cup in the streets, not glass, in New Orleans. Guess Marriott figured they'd help out their guests.
