Is the expiration of Marriott gift cards always so far into the future? I just received mine from the Daily GetAways Promotion and it says the expiration is 2/20.
|
The ones I got last year from Marriott are 12/12.
|
Mine are 2020 also.

I know MR Gcard/VC is considered as Visa, and the hotel normally add a 4 in front of rest 15 numbers to use it.
since we have 16 numbers and exp date and card type, can it be used for prepaid stays? Update: Yes you can! I just booked and stayed and called MR gift card to check detail, the card was charged same day as I booked online. Just use the way I mentioned above, select VISA as method of payment, add a 4 in front of rest 15 numbers, use exp date on the card as exp date. You are good to go! when you booked the hotel...did you use a corp code? or for business travel?? |

Brownish Gold?
I have a stack of brownish gold, $100 " The Marriott Travel card". Is that what we're talking about. 15 digits , but no Visa symbol.
Since they are only $100 each, the prepaid amount would have to be less than that. But, it would still be of interest to me. I've got 20 of them. They came from Citi Thank You Points. |
Can you use 2 gift cards to pay for a stay?
I have 2 $100 Marriott gift cards I received as a gift. I have an upcoming 1-night stay in NYC on 10/31 that I need to still book.
I was originally going to book the TS Renaissance on a prepaid of $227 because the TS Marriott Marquis was showing $349 & the prepaid seemed to be the best deal I could get. I need to be in the TS area & would prefer the Marquis because of the exec lounge. What popped into my mind this morning was, could I use the 2 $100 gift cards for the Marquis? That would reduce the out-of-pocket to me to $149, which beats even the $227 the Ren was offering. I'm trying to do this stay as cheaply as possible. But never having had gift cards before I didn't know if I could use 2 for one stay? Any input appreciated. Cheers. |
Yes you can easily use two cards for a stay. I have done it many times. Although I do not agree with your accounting as I would count the $200 in gift cards as out of pocket cost as well.
Use your regular Visa to book the stay and present it at check in. Sometime before check out have them post the gift cards and print out a folio. Let the balance go to your CC on file. |

Thanks all! Then I'll book the Marquis & use the gift certs.
Since the 2 $100 gift cards were gifts, I regard them as 'free' money & my out of pocket being $$ truly out of pocket for me. Since $$ are tight at the moment, $149 o.o.p. beats $227 o.o.p. Cheers. |
Sorry to say this, but using $200 dollars in gift cards to save $80 is such an un-flyertalk move!!! I mean we have people on here that go nuts over 10% off gift cards.

Another quick question. Sorry if it sounds stoo-pid. Are the Marriott gift cards for Marriotts only, or can they be used for any hotels in the Marriott family (Renaissance, RI, FI, etc)? Let me know. Thx!
Cheers. |
