The price was less than half of what I could find in the city center. If you are on the right side of the hotel you have a great (but distant) view of St. Peters. The restaurants at the hotel are good but pricey.

It is a bit farther from the city center, but you will barely notice unless you are a night owl. It is fairly close to the metro, however, I never actually took it. The hotel had a shuttle that ran into Rome every hour (with dropoff and return pickup by the Vatican). You did have to pay for it, but if I recall correctly it was something like 5 euro a day roundtrip. It ran fairly late, but not past around 9 PM.

The hotel also has a standing arrangement for a car service to the airport for a flat 60 euros, which is a fair price.

Does anyone know if by October this hotel will restore the shuttle near the Vatican? What about basic services and restaurants?

Edited to say I called and was told there is no shuttle to the Vatican. Their restaurants are currently open for breakfast and dinner, but not always for lunch. I was told they were unsure about what services will be in place for early October 2021.

Stayed here last month and was not impressed.
Rooms with a balcony and Vatican cupola/Rome view are nice, but do not make up for the other shortcomings.

Bathrooms very old, with bathtubs with plastic shower curtains. No walk-in showers.

Distance to the center of the Rome is just too far and (unless you have a car, or are willing to pay a taxi about 20 euro each way) you are totally dependent on the train timetable. Do not get confused...is NO metro stop here. There is only a TRAIN stop called "Gemelli" where trains only pass every 20 to 30 minutes during normal weekday working hours and pass even less in the evenings and on weekends. Sundays you may be looking at a 1 hour wait sometimes. Walking to/from the city centre is also not an option due to the very long distances involved.

If this hotel was charging 60 or 70 euro a night and/or it had a swimming pool, then yes maybe it might be acceptable...but with such an out of the way location, poor transport links, and old outdated bathrooms with old bathtubs, I would look more something more central and more modern.

I've just completed a stay here and can echo the sentiments above. The property is decent, with the staff a particular highlight, but the location is ultimately too remote and inconvenient, as missing the train at Valle Aurelia (the station used to connect from the metro to the FN3 train) means a 30-minute wait for the next one in a very dull area; to make things worse, the last train is around 22:30, so if you want to stay out and about after a nice dinner, you'll need to take a taxi or an Uber back to the hotel. In short, even in ideal conditions, you need at least 45 minutes from the room to anywhere of interest in the city centre if you're relying on public transport.

I was upgraded to an Executive Room with balcony and a view of St Peter's as a lowly Gold, which was appreciated, but otherwise the room is quite basic, with a TV that's no bigger than 32" in a room that requires at least 50" considering the distance to the bed (a particular pet peeve of mine). The bed was wonderfully comfortable, as is the case in most Marriott properties where I've stayed. No USB charging ports, only classic power plugs, although the latter are numerous enough.

All things considered, at 137€/night, it was good value considering the period of the year, but outside of high occupancy periods, I'd definitely look into staying at a more central property.

Since I just put in the effort to call them about any potential shuttle service, I might as well note it for others here. They stated that they have neither a service to the airport nor to the city center. They mentioned the nearby train station as the best option.
