Is there a club lounge at this hotel?

onebagtraveller Mar 15, 2010 7:05 am

Yes there is a club lounge at this hotel - 18th Floor

If you have been to LRM in Shanghai though - don't expect much quantity compared to LRM. Limited quantities but quality is good - it was pretty quiet when I was there. Good enough for pre-dinner / evening snack + drinks and some good bite sized desserts.

Do gold members get access to the lounge?

I stayed here when I was Gold in July 2009, and received access to the lounge. Small but nice lounge with great staff.

FABULOUS stay in early March

Not sure why anyone would stay anywhere else. From the moment the hotel's car service met us in the gate (yes, the gate -- within 10 steps of actually getting off the plane), we were treated like royalty at this hotel.

As starwood platinum members, we were upgraded to a huge, beautiful, luxurious suite with our own butler, who gave us his email/phone# in case we ever had any questions while were traveling around Beijing. Check-in was in our room. The complimentary breakfast buffet was amazing! Had a lovely dinner upon arrival at Danieli. When I asked for a late check-out because our flight was at 9pm, they told us we should leave the hotel at 6pm, and offered (yes OFFERED) a 6pm check-out at no extra charge.

I have stayed at St. Regis elsewhere in the world, and also at many other 5 star hotels, but I have never experienced service like this.

Seriously want to go back to Beijing just to stay here!

Thanks Dina4, good information...I'll be there end of May...can't wait! What room category where you upgraded too?

dina4 Apr 20, 2010 10:57 pm

not sure... we had a huge entry, a separate living room with TV and desk, large bedroom, walk-in closet and vanity area, huge bathroom.

we paid about $270

For those of you who are familiar with this property, what subway station is the most convenient? Google maps only seems to show the Chinese translation of the stop names, so if someone could help me out with the English it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

If memory serves me correctly, it's the Jianguomen station. The subway is 2 RMB one way, regardless of where you go. It's very handy and you can go almost anywhere. Cabs are inexpensive, if you need to use also. The station is about 7 minute walk from the hotel. I was just there, so if you have any other questions, let me know. I found a lovely guide, Lily, and also group tour, if you want the info, send me a message.

Thanks for the information! Was your guide Lily Fuwa? If so, I read her wonderful reviews on Trip Advisor and was able to book 1 day with her. She must be in huge demand, as only one day in our scheduled worked out. Any advice on seeing the Great Wall? Please feel free to PM me if you can. Thanks!

I had originally booked FWNs for our first weekend in Beijing at the Westin Chaoyang, but the only award rooms available had two single beds. Not wanting to take any chances, I switched to the St. Regis, which had king beds available in the deluxe rooms.

Our trip isn't until September, and it appears that I've been pre-upgraded to a Statesman Suite already! :)

Thing is, it's a smoking room. Should I call the Platinum Concierge line to request a change to non-smoking, or do I have to contact the hotel directly because they were the ones who pre-upgraded me?

Me too! Were pre-upgraded to a Statesman Suite immediately after making my reservation in May - booked BAR. Will stay there in September. Can't wait!

You should be happy with the Statesman Suite. It's a nice upgrade. It's nice that the hotel has pre-upgraded you - but it will also be what's available at check-in...

If you want anything further or it's for a special occasion you should book the room type you want.

Staying at the StR now, also upgraded to a Statesman Suite upon booking. The hotel is well located for sight seeing, the staff is universally friendly and breakfast (free for Plats) is a smashing success even for a guy who is not "generally" a breakkie eater.

The suite itself is quite nicely appointed, with a writing desk, a couch, separate entry way, and a fully appointed bath with one of those commodes that does everything short of asking how you'd like your eggs. ;)

I would easily choose the StR for another stay in PEK - it has been quite worth the money, IMO.
