Did you check if award space opened up after you cancelled?

I can confirm the first, at least that was my experience. I canceled some very long reservations (via phone) and the points came back immediately.
That might help you find an answer to your second question. |

The issue is the first night of a 5 night award stay is sold out of award space. I already have the first night booked as an award booking (therefore I'm one of the reasons why it's sold out). In the ideal scenario, I cancelled the first night award booking, hope it goes straight back to inventory, and then rebook 5 nights including my original night. The risk of course is that the first night doesn't go back into inventory and I'm only able to book the later 4 nights.

I did not have occasion to look, but if you have enough points in your account and if they come back immediately, maybe do a test booking/cancellation?

Good news, I checked again last night and saw availability open up for the full 5 days. Called in, cancelled my original seperate award bookings and got the points back instantly and then rebooked for 5 nights with the 5th night "free" (really 20K in points for an OWV upgrade).

Menus
FWIW I emailed the resort and they were nice enough to send me the menus with prices for all their restaurants, plus the spa. You might want to do the same if planning.
Excited to be visiting next year. Didn't realize the 20% F&B discount for Plats... that definitely means no HB/FB option, it just does not add up at all. Thanks all who have contributed to this thread. |

Some information I gathered ..
From calling, I got the Spectacular Lagoon Oasis at 80000 points per night From the email I got from the property, breakfast is at USD 44 net per person per day IF room is on points (and if you are not platinum). I also received the menu, and activities costs/schedule. |
Ok maybe a dumb question but I can’t seem to find it anywhere… Where does it say we get the 20% food and beverage discount as platinum/platinum elite? I don’t see it on the Marriott status benefits page. |

I’m Plat but they don’t mention that anywhere on the site and I’d be super annoyed if I turned up and they told me I was the one guest without free breakfast.... |
BTW I am happy to post all the menus they sent me, if that is allowed.... um, is that allowed? ;-)

80,000 points per night? Is that with 5th night free? They’d been quoting 85,000 for that room (which I paid). You have a confirmation at 80,000?? |

They have a strange pricing schedule. It isn't really 80,000 or 85,000. I paid 500,000 points for 7 nights. It looks like they charge 60,000 per night with 5th night free so my standard redemption was 360,000 points and then I was charged 140,000 points for upgraded room points. I was also quoted the same 500,000 for OWV at St Regis when they were offering the mistake rate.

So then it appears the upgrade is 20k a night even on the 5th night free? That’s the only way it makes sense but that’s also very odd. |
I'd love to see the menu. Please post.
Thanks
