Arrow W Retreat & Spa Bali - Seminyak - [Master Thread]

Just a FYI: This showed up on SPG.com recently I think. Not many details except tentative opening date: July 1, 2009; 232 guest rooms and villas.

Seminyak -- awesome. Very glad that this is NOT going to be in Nusa Dua.

Unhappy W Retreat & Spa Bali - Seminyak - Now Opening March 1, 2010

Oh Nooooo... I was hoping to be able to visit this year... prior to my big birthday party next year. So uncool.

Sir Mod, you might want to update the title of the thread with the new postponed opening date.

W Retreat & Spa Bali - Seminyak slides to 1 April 2011

No surprises here yet but I have just attended the presentation for this resort and I do know a member who is really(x5) keen about it.

Here's a hint: It is going to be quite a luxurious property. Go ahead. Start your guess on its rates.

Should we include the mention Thyetus's name and get a free night during opening week or not?

How about some useful info like when they will accept reservations, whether or not this will be an all-suite or villa property (so those hoping to redeem FWN can start looking elsewhere)?

We talking W Maldives luxurious or more like W Puerto Rico / Thailand?

Any hints on if the rates will be above or below St Regis Bali?

Wouldn't be fun if I reveal too much, right?

4 questions over here but I can only provide a hint to one: it is scheduled to open end of 2010 tentatively.

My guess : Cat 4/5 , BAR USD200-300++ for standard rooms. It will probably fit in between the renovated Westin (or Laguna) and St Regis.

Am guessing no way will it be a Cat 4, more likely a 6 and 5 if very lucky!

We have been to the W Maldives a few times and heading back in a few weeks followed by W Koh Samui end of August. After speaking to people at W a few times I know they are trying to aim very high with the retreat brand, the Puerto Rico one is a Cat 6 and I get the feeling that one is considered the lowest W Retreat available as far as setting and luxury!

Depending on how many rooms compared to villas I would imagine a Cat 7 aim might not be out the question! I hope I am wrong as it would be nice to get a lower cost but I just cant see it!

Their aim is not for a brand between St Regis and Westin, just a very different experience to St. Regis. I know a few people at W Maldives who would be very upset if they thought a St. Regis was better then them and to be fair we have yet to find a St. Regis as good as the W Maldives!

Most likely a Cat 5, but no way can it be a Cat 6 or 7.

Bear in mind this is Seminyak Bali, its not the Maldives. No dramatic landscape, there is only so much you can do with a concrete structure in Seminyak no matter how they try to hype it up ...
