It's possibly one of the worst breakfast deals I've experienced as a Plat.

For that you could have gone to a better restaurant in the area.

Ouch, I just booked this property for a stay this week. Looks like I'll forego the breakfast option.

travelerdave Sep 7, 2015 5:36 pm

Had two recent stays here and received $20 credit per person ($40 breakfast per day). Other options were not as expensive as the continental breakfast. Benedicts were $15, Omelettes were $15 to $17, pancakes and french toast $14 each, most other entrees were about $15. If you can hold off on a drink ($5 to $7), you can be close to $20 with tax and tip (it comes over as one total amount that they take off $20/40 of your bill). Starbucks is across the street, CVS a block away.

Props to you if you can make it through breakfast without a cup of coffee. Doesn't work for me!

Any recent updates? Thanks!

stay booked late March for 3 nights

Has anyone on this forum stayed lately?
We have 3 nights booked on points (Gold) and are wondering what to expect.
Cash rooms are through the roof that week (maybe spring break in the area?)

It may be due to beliefs this will be the last year for the Cherry Blossom Festival as the immigrant trees are scheduled to be deported once they drop their blossoms this year. ;)

I recently stayed two nights, and I'm found it perfectly fine. Great location and helpful staff. No construction nowadays, so it's nice and quiet.
Got the room via Hotwire, at 190$ total, so I would probably be pickier at the standard rate though.

The pool is closed until May, though, so didn't try it. Didn't try the breakfast either, but The Caucus Room has a decent meal at the same (or lower) price.

I wouldn't go that far. There's major construction in every direction 1 block away. Not sure how loud it is, but I can usually hear said construction from my apartment every morning.

Yeah, there's construction in the area, but in my experience it wasn't close enough to hear it from my room. It was on the right side of the building, pointing towards the Fairmont btw.

Just stayed there and was disappointed enough I considered canceling my reservation and walking across the street to the Park Hyatt. It was sadly sold out.

The hotel feels old and decrepit; it has this weird feel of a hotel in the Midwest that caters to large conferences and an occasional tourist (no offense intended). If one can get a great cash price, it's probably worth it for the location.

They don't have proper in-room dining at all; one can order from some sort of catering service where everything comes in to-go containers. They will plate it for additional $9. The choice was severely limited, too. I normally stay at the Park Hyatt actually, and the room service there comes from the Blue Duck Tavern, so that was a stark contrast.

No Platinum recognition whatsoever; I got an SPG room (or whatever it is called), no upgrade. The room did have a nice tub and a coffee maker. No coffee in the lobby though -- I am pretty used to seeing that and hunting for a Starbucks first thing in the morning is annoying.

Definitely not coming back.

Stay Report - 6/17 to 6/19

Location: Despite its name the hotel is actually located in West End on 24th and M. It's about a 10 minute walk to Georgetown itself. Luckily there's a lot around the hotel: some good brunch spots, a Nobu, a CVS and Walgreens within 5 minutes and you can get to Foggy Bottom Metro in about 6 minutes or so. Location wise I enjoyed it very much

Hotel: The hotel is a pretty generic looking building for DC on the outside. It has a small lobby which the pleasant Westin scent pumped in. There's a gym and a pool on the 2nd floor. There were three elevators and I never dealt with any waits. Do note all dining here is currently closed.

Check In: A friendly agent checked me in and thanked me for being Titanium. I had tried to upgrade with SNAs but was denied. There seemed to be no suites anyway.

Room: Small and strangely laid out. There's a useless arm chair wedged between the bed and the desk that makes using the desk chair harder to use. There are also outlets on only one side of the bed. The TV isn't an Internet TV. Oddly there's still a minibar, don't see many of those. I will say the bathroom was really nice though, WIfi worked well and there was daily maid service.

Dining: As I mentioned above both restaurants at the hotel are "temporarily closed". The hotel has a "grab and go" in the lobby that's so pathetic it defies description. They'll sell you a turkey, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich for $8 or fruit cup for $6. Their welcome email invites you to order Uber Eats to earn Bonvoy Points. I've stayed at Hyatts with no on property restaurant and they at least provide vouchers for elites to use at nearby restaurants. Here they provide nothing.

Between the meh hotel room and dining situation I wasn't exactly thrilled with this property, especially as they're still charging $250 a night. Next time I'll book elsewhere.

Thanks for the review - sad to hear about the continued lack of dining options as I have wanted to try this property for a while.

There are a ton of great places to eat in walking distance from this property. What makes me "sad" is when I hear about people coming to D.C. and eating in subpar hotel restaurants and lounges!!! If that is what is holding you back, then hit up us fellow FTers for some restaurant recommendations...
