Not certain, but that link above looks a lot like a referral link, to me. If so, that shouldn't be posted here.

Here's a direct and easy link:

Edit: This was referring to a post that has now been deleted.

Good news. The referral links are back up and your referees will receive the 30K offer. Two thumbs up to AMEX on that!

I sent myself a referral after this post (through spg.com) and it was the 25k offer that expires in December.

There is a thread in the American Express forum which can be used to post referral offers (though not individual links). Please keep such discussion limited to that thread. It can be found here:

I read the post and didn't see the answer.

Can I apply for either card if I already have (or had Business card) card?

My experience has been that AMEX will give you the current bonus points if you haven't had that specific card (business or personal) for a year or two. Your MMV, of course.

Just saw this on the app. page: Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have had this product within the last 12 months..

I've had the Business card for over a year but haven't had the Personal card for 2+ years so i expect to be approved for the Per. card.

The "welcome bonus" is the 10K for first purchase (which is what that footnote is attached to). As I've noted before, the second bonus (for $X spend in Y months) is unrestricted: you can cancel the SPG Amex, sign up again a month later, and get the 2d bonus (now 20K) so long as you hit the spend target.

Did anyone notice this?

I have both the personal and biz SPG cards and my mom doesn't have either one and would like to sign up for both with the current bonus offers, so I sent her a referral e-mail for both cards.

I noticed that #2 of the fine print on the bottom of the page where you put in the names and e-mail addresses of the people you would like to refer, is slightly different for the 2 cards.

For the personal card it states:

2. You are eligible to earn 5,000 Starpoints for each approval. Please allow 6–8 weeks for bonus points to post to your account after each referred prospect is approved for the Card. Due to the confidential nature of the credit approval process, you will not be notified of whether we approve or decline any application(s) from individual(s) you refer.

For the biz card it says:

2. You are eligible to receive 10,000 bonus miles for each approval. Referrals must be submitted by 8/28/12 and referred individual(s) must apply by 9/4/12 and be approved. Please allow 6-8 weeks for bonus miles to post to your account after each referred prospect is approved for the Card. Due to the confidential nature of the credit approval process, you will not be notified of whether we approve or decline any application(s) from individual(s) you refer. (Bolding mine)

If I took a screenshot of this and my referees were approved would I be able to get Starwood to give me 10k bonus points per approval?

You can certainly ask for the points, although not from Starwood. Amex is the one that issues the points. You'd have to request it from them. However, I would think that if it's showing 10k on the screen, that's what you'll get automatically. But yes, I would take a screen shot.

At the top of the screen on the referral page it says "Starwood Preferred Guest Business Credit Card 5,000 Starpoints per approved referral2" (small #2 after the word referral). Then at the bottom by #2 of the Terms and Conditions it says 10,000.

Wait, so now they're offering 30,000?

I applied and received my SPG AmEx three months ago, and I'm less than $2,000 from hitting the $5,000 threshold.

Any chance I can get AmEx to give me that extra 5,000 starpoints when I hit $5,000? Otherwise I'll just get the standard 25,000. Which is great, mind you, but 30,000 would be awesome.

I have a friend who tried this and they didn't grant the additional 5k, but I think the amount of spending that you do with them overall has to play a factor. I believe they have discretion to approve, so I would send them a SM and ask for it. Nothing to lose. In my experience, SM has worked better than a phone call, and you have a written record.

So I am pretty inexperienced but is 30K a pretty good deal? Should I jump on this?

It's only 5K more than regular - I thought I heard of phenomenal offers before this.

For this card, I've never seen an offer larger than 30K. Granted, I've only been following for maybe five years, but in that time, I'm pretty sure this ties the largest bonus.

It's the largest publicly available offer they've ever done.
