BTW.. some other updates on the Westin Time Square:

1) There's free wireless internet access in the lobby and in the executive lounge on the 8th floor.
2) If you dont have platinum status, you can still use the executive lounge for continental breakfast. However, they charge you $17 per person for the priveledge.. not worth it.
3) Unless you are a platinum, you will have to pay for access to the fitness room

would you all think something different if i was able to get this room for $200 a night? that was what i agreed to after the "pricing mistake on the web site"...

here is a pic the westin web site shows for the junior suite:
http://www.westinny.com/accomodation...nior_large.jpg

thisi s what my reservation says:
Room Features: Junior Suite Non-Smoking, Heavenly Bed, Heavenly Bath, Panoramic View, Continental Brkfst For 2

Room description 440Sq Feet With Partially Separated Sitting Area W/Sofa Bed Free Health Club Access, Evening Hor D'Oeuvres, Bose Stero

(so i guess i get health club even tho im just gold??)

thanks!

Like I have posted, that pic on the website is the WRONG picture. That room showing more than 3 windows is part of the Presidential/Renewal suite on the 41st floor. The regular JS suite has everything you described EXCEPT panoramic view. Well, I mean, you could see a lot of NYC from your room but not panoramic (but ONLY if you get a higher floor. There is a JS on every floor -xx10, so if you get one on the 13th floor you are SOL.....they seriously need to change the description). My definition of panoramic is have a round suite or corner suite that you can see at least 270 degrees of your surrounding. A lot of SPG properties have those rooms.

Anyway, 200 is OK, but W Time Square had a limited time promotion a couple of weeks ago - 249 wonderful room with triple points. I still would stay at W hands down.

BTW, the continental breakfast will be served in club lounge. As with any Westin and Sheraton club lounges, breakfast will be very simple--pastry and fruit cereal, etc. You won't find eggs benedicts.

Is it permissable to book two nights using points, then call up and cancel the second night, and just be charged points for the first night?

Well, for what its worth, a hotel can set a minimum length of stay for anytime they wish. Another explanation is that perhaps they do not want to accept any new arrivals for this particular Saturday in May - I'm guessing that this is May 20th since you did not say.

Regardless, I have asked the SPG hotel coordinator for this property to look into this. With the holiday weekend upon us, I really do not expect an answer back until late next week. If there is anything to report, then I will come back to update the thread.

Got my free Westin Times Square night

Thanks to a helpful SPG customer service rep, I booked two free nights, May 16 and 17, using 20,000 points, then immediately canceled the second night and had 10,000 points restored. As the saying goes, there is more than one way to skin a cat. Happy New Year to William and all SPG Forum posters!

I don't think I could get this one past the office accounting department. And they report to me. ;)

(Westin Time Square "Deal")

At 2500$ a night how can this thing be called a "deal". To top it off, a lower price package is only 519$. Wow, I'm booking it for a month! Com'on, I know it's NYC, but calling these packages a deal is like saying apartments in Manhattan are affordable!

allen074 Jan 5, 2006 1:14 pm

well lets see - somehow when i booked i found a $1/night rate for a suite - so I am thinking I can take the other $2499 and restore myself in other ways :)

Really? Or are you just joking?

Mistake rates/fares will make you very popular on FT. @:-)

On the other hand, if it's NOT true, you could become very UNpopular here. ;)

allen074 Jan 5, 2006 1:48 pm

yes, it is true (i can show you the confirmation) - the reason i didnt post it when i found it was that i couldnt duplicate how i found it!!! i spent 2 hours trying i promise you!

i will say that unlike the tokyo expedia mistake where people are going too far - i told the hotel that i was just looking to make a fair deal as i want to stay there - we settled on $199 a night for the 2 nights i had booked at $1 plus 3 additional nights. seemed like a fair deal on both sides.

Eastbay1K Jan 5, 2006 2:05 pm

This is SO tempting - but I want the personal trainer AND the nutritionist and I can't justify the extra expense if they won't include both. And so, I'll stay home.

gleff Jan 5, 2006 3:02 pm

So this is what the Westin Times calls a "Square Deal" ;)

stevens397 Jan 5, 2006 4:22 pm

The problem is we're all nuts. The bigger problem is that apparently, Starwood knows it! Happy New Year!
