Ever upward to the Westin Excelsior in Firenze (I had to Google what Excelsior means)! Seriously, this was a great stay - here are my pros, cons, and photos:
Pros:
Photos:
Pros:
- Upgraded to a Premium Large Arno River View Room on the 2nd floor with a balcony (balconies look to exist on the 2nd and 5th floors)
- Property design is stunning with amazing character in the rooms and in the common areas
- After making my modifications, the bed was fantastic - initially, the covers were too thin, but there were two extra duvets in the closet that I added - after that, the covers were plush, the mattress was just right, and the pillows were plush (fantastic!)
- Shower pressure and temperature were fantastic (yes, even in the shower-tub combination)
- Large bathroom with dual vanities
- Great view across the river
- Service was very friendly - escorted to my room by the front desk, lots of laughs, etc.
- Asked proactively about late checkout - I said 2 PM as I was heading across the driveway to the STR the next day
- Lots of water bottles placed in the room - four in total
- Elite breakfast for the welcome gift is the full buffet - eggs and pancakes are made-to-order - everything was tasty, especially the orange juice
- International shaver outlet in the bathroom did not work
- No Internet TV OS

Great pictures, and that seems to be the standard upgrade for this Westin, I was upgraded to the same room type when I stayed there last year. Unfortunately my SNA request was declined. Great hotel- classy, luxurious, great location, and would recommend but I would say that there is a noticable difference between the Westin and the St. Regis next door. If the price is similar (like say within 200EUR per night), the St Regis is worth the premium.
