There is also beer/wine/soft drinks. I've had the red (some California Merlot the last two times) and it's perfectly drinkable after 10 minutes in the fridge.

One person I saw had mostly filled the bag and then placed a curved/rolled calendar (yes they have those too, along with mugs, and other random souvenirs) at the top sticking out of the bag, essentially adding a large funnel to the top of the bag and expanding its effective volume by what must have been at least 50-75%. Pretty genius.

Question Lounge access options

hello.
As an SPG Gold we were given a one time pass to use the lounge and have to admit it was very nice indeed.
Is it possible to upgrade a standard award stay night to one that includes access to the club lounge? Or can you use extra points to obtain access?
I emailed the hotel directly with this question but never received a reply
Thanks for any replies here!^

There are no club level rooms on any of their award rate plans, so they cannot be booked through the Customer Contact Center.

My apologies if they did not respond to your email. When I called them just now, the person to whom I spoke said that you would have to use Starpoints as an Instant Award to cover the difference in room rates.

For example, if a club level room sells for about $160 more than the lowest category city view room and 1,500 Starpoints buys $20 worth of in-hotel credit, then you could use 12,000 Starpoints per day to gain access to the club level that way by upgrading to a club level room.

Thank you very much for taking the time to call the hotel and reply to my question.^
I wish hotels would post their Instant Award rates on line so that all the options were more accessible

Thanks again.

Just completed a really great stay at the Sheraton Waikiki.

When I checked my reservation the day before arrival, I had already been upgraded to an ocean-view suite (to be assigned at check-in). I arrived late on a Friday evening and was put in 2385, which I think may be called a Kai suite? It had a full living room with dining table, as well as 2 balconies - one off the living room and the other one off the bedroom.

I found the welcome gift a fun perk - highly recommend the Furikake popcorn. I also really appreciated that the store in the lobby (Lawson's) was open late with all sorts of things to eat on the go - the Char Siu buns and musubi were both much better than what I expected from a convenience store. The breakfast in the club lounge was pleasant - the food was just ok, but the view of Diamond Head was amazing (had the same view from my room).

Overall, this was a really great stay. I was sad I was only there for one night! And I must stay the entire experience was infinitely better than my stay at the Royal Hawaiian a couple of months ago - the suite at the RH was nicer, but the friendlier staff, amazing views, and easy check-in and check-out process at the SW ensured that I'll be back at the SW for my next stay.

Can anyone speak to whether an oceanfront is worth paying over a partial ocean view?

Looks like the oceanfront (listed at 240 sq ft) is actually smaller than the partial ocean view (listed at 280 sq ft)?

I personally prefer the partial ocean view at this hotel, the combination of Diamond Head, the length of Waikiki beach and the ocean ... it's like the postcards.

The ocean front rooms are great for the surf sounds to sleep to, but I'll take the partial ocean view.

Dear FT SPG friends-

We're Platinum guests and staying here for the first time as to our usual next door, the Moana Surfrider -Westin.

Booked for a stay using my SNA's for 2/21-2/28 and would like to know about your experiences on the likelihood of us getting upgraded here.

Is their SPG recognition good, etc?

Thanks for any and all input./feedback.

Cheers

I stayed here in December for five nights and was upgraded to a Kai suite. I didn't use any of my SNAs.

Platinum recognition was good - fast check-in, gift bag amenity as well as 500 points, two free alcoholic drinks, club lounge access, etc.

Terrific, thanks so much for the info. We look forward to our first visit there

I've stayed in both types of rooms and I always prefer oceanfront. On a clear sunny day, the view is amazing and unrivaled if you have the right floor. But like the poster below you stated, the view of DH AND the ocean that some partial ocean views offer are delightful.

What's the rate difference?

I'll be staying here for a few days for the first time. Booked a standard C&P room and my reservation now shows as Deluxe oceanfront room. So, it appears they've already upgraded the room several days out, is that normal for this property? I'm looking forward to this first experience; I usually stayed at one of the Hiltons in past visits.

What's the rate difference?
Partial Ocean View - $285/night
Oceanfront - $355/night

Δ=$70

Yes, the Sheraton Waikiki will often pre-upgrade several days in advance for Plats - I more often than not get a suite upgrade and I've never just gotten the standard room I booked (over 50 stays).

Well, I am on property now and my pre-arrival upgrade to a Deluxe oceanview room was changed to oceanfront room on arrival. Not sure what the difference is, if any. Looks like all the suites were sold or given as upgrades to others. The club lounge and pool areas are great, but the rooms are tiny (especially the bathroom). Loud music was playing until after 1am last night (a Friday) and soundproofing is very poor.

When I arrived to my room, there was a fold-away bed in it. Strange, since I didn't request one. Dialed the guest services line but no one answered after 8+ rings. Went back to check-in counter and was given another room with a smaller balcony. Should have tried to redeem suite upgrades, but thought I had a decent chance at getting a suite given it's now rainy season.
