Studio Suite
 

I just booked a suite here by phone. The Plat agent said the suite had a queen bed and a murphy bed. When I checked the reservation online it showed this.

1 Room , 2 Adults per room , 1 Queen Murphy Bed

Room Features : Non Smoking Studio Suite, Studio Room, Conference Table, Wetbar, Microwave

Has anyone who has stayed in one of these suites know if there is a queen bed & a murphy bed? Also, is there a pullout couch?

$369 on Saturday in late september. I have a regular room booked for $379 at the Taj on the same day. I assume the prices will go down a bit, but the room is refundable.

As a point of reference, if you are interested in a cool studio suite that can be booked as a revenue room, the Showboat HOB (House of Blues) Studio Suites are very nice (especially for entertaining), and have been known to drop below $400 when fall approaches. Though, Saturday night is often tough.

Either way, it is something to keep in mind.

I plan to stay in this hotel this weekend, but before doing so have a few questions.

1) How far is this hotel from Boardwalk Hall where the American Idol concert is? Can I walk - how far is the walk and is it safe?

2) How far is this hotel from the bog hotels with the casinos on the boardwalk? Can I walk - how far is the walk and is it safe?

3) How is the hotel - is it nice? On the boardwalk?

Boardwalk hall is next to Caesars and Trump Plaza (on the boardwalk).

The Sheraton is NOT on the boardwalk, but next to the convention center.

It is a fine walk (not very far, but still not across the street) to the boardwalk, closest hotels being Bally's and Caesars. Walk is very safe during the day, with the outlet shops between the Sheraton and Caesars.

I probably wouldn't walk back to the Sheraton at 1AM --- but, it probably would be fine. A cab from Caesars or Trump Plaza would be pretty inexpensive.

I would probably only stay at this property if it was for free or substantially less than the boardwalk casino hotels; as I prefer to be directly on the boardwalk. Though, I admit I'm a bit biased, and of course, with comp rooms at the various AC properties --- one can understand that bias. Though, I understand one's reasoning for choosing the Sheraton, as a Saturday night in the summer (especially with short notice) at the various AC casino hotels can be quite expensive if you are paying rack-rates. Heck, I've even seen the Sheraton in the high $300 range.

Ended up staying here this past weekend on points - only 10,000 which I thought was a bargain as the rooms were going for $300 range and the bwalk hotels in the $400 - $500 range. Overall it wokred out great - got upgraded to the club level and the hotel was a short 10 minute walk to the boardwalk. Only had to pay for parking - should I get points for the parking fee?

How does self parking work here? Is it actually at the convention center or under the hotel? Is it unlimited in & out? Room key to access parkade?

Parking is in the convention center garage. You don't need a room key to access the parking lot.

When you leave, you use a ticket that the check-in counter in the Sheraton will give you.

I'm not sure about in/out access.

I was upgraded to a Junior Suite without asking. One negative about the hotel is so far from the strip.

though not in your profile, I bet you are a platinum. I know this as I JUST left this property this morning. I as my lowly 15 stay gold, was treated like C-R-A-P!!!!

Refused club access as it is reserved for Platinum only. I promptly questioned as I have stayed at 6 other Sheratons in the last month or so and ALWAYS had club access? Their answer.......

That is that properties fault. We are not required to and will not do it. I was given a nice room on the spg level, (14) but not club access (16).

Other than that, nice property, nice rooms, far from the boardwalk, but not bad. I just wish SPG gold were not treated like red-headed-.......-step-children.

As a fellow SPG Gold, I understand your frustration, I've been Gold for a couple of years and I always understood the following. When I desire a particular room; Club or Suite, I just book it. If I get more when I get there, great! If not, I still get what I wanted right from the start, you are then never disappointed. I'm booked at the Sheraton Atlantic City next week, the room I want is already booked, no surprises & no gambling with my room! Cheers!

Just returned from a Monday night stay here. Very impressed with this hotel. We had a great view of the bwalk and the room was spacious and clean. It was a bloody short stroll to the bwalk from the hotel. Concierge made us reservations at the Ruth Chris in what I term the 'Godfather' booth (semi-circular booth in the middle of the far wall, view of the entire restaurant).

The Miss America paraphernalia wasn't overpowering, though it's clearly the theme of the hotel. After a smooth check-in and valet park, I returned to the front desk to enquire about exchanging Canadian money after changing into my suit and was greeted with, "Hello Mr. Actuary. Don't you look smart!" A little ego-fluffing is never amiss. Friendly and professional staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds and a beautiful setting. What more could you want for $120/nt? :D

SERVICE: One valet attendant was downright rude when we arrived in the "circle" in front of the hotel. We just wanted to park 5 minutes to check-in, but we were given an attitude by this arrogant attendant. Next, the girl at checkin was giving us the "just doing a job" attitude (AKA, just move the line please attitude). Our parking pass did not work half of our stay (we were there 5 days) and many guests seem to have the same problem. Attendants inside the parkade said it was the machine and were trying to fix the gate. The front desk told us to keep our pass away from our cell phone, etc... The attendant at the club lounge was a zombie and looked like one too. Our housekeeper was super nice though and one night the concierge called a restaurant for us. I must also say thank you to the manager Danny who got us the exact room that we wanted when we emailed him (actually his assitant contacted us). Thank you again. You see, they just need to remove the bad apples...
LOCATION: Very good actually, it is near shopping, restaurants, casinos, the boardwalk & the beach... 15 minutes to the boardwalk at the most. Borgata is 5 minutes away by car. This hotel is also a good base to explore other South Jersey areas; Wildwoods, Cape May, Ocean City, etc...
ROOM: Our club level room was large, had a nice view, was comfy and had a large flat panel tv. Overall it was clean, but a really good scrubbing especially in the bathroom would be nice. The thermostat was not working properly in the guestroom, it was not cool enough, only mild air was blowing.
PARKING: Very long walk to the hotel and expensive ($12), strange because parking is usually ($5) in Atlantic City...
FOOD: We did not try the restaurant, the food at the club lounge was nice, but again I say; service was subpar, but we just took our food and ignored the attendant.
PUBLIC AREAS: Nice, clean, bright and functional, not the Borgata, but in good taste and sufficient.
RECOMMENDATION: I recommend this property to all fellow flyertalk SPG members, however don't go for the service. BTW, New Jersey residents are either a miss or a hit too; they're either rude or nice. South Jersey was really pleasant & Atlantic City is nothing like it was in the 80's (seedy & dirty) or so I'm told and is surprisingly clean too. Atlantic City is definitely in a renaissance phase. Enjoy!
