AC Hotel Split, Croatia [Master Thread]
Surprised there's no Master Thread on this hotel already. Just spent a night a week ago.
Located in the tallest building in Croatia, the rooms are on floors 18-28. My NUA into Executive Suite cleared 5 days before arrival. The suite was a corner room, 28th floor, beautiful views all around. Minibar in the suites is FOC, loaded with water, juices, sodas and beer. Handwritten note from the GM, a bag of cookies (excellent!) and arancini (Croatian candied orange peel, not Italian breadrcumed rice balls
), and a can of local orange soda (Pipi) as Bonvoy gift.
Had dinner in the restaurant, the food was great, the service excellent!
There's a shopping mall (Joker) a few minutes walk away, also several smaller grocery stores nearby.
The only letdown of the hotel is the "Rooftop bar" - I'm guessing they still have to complete the rooftop, as earlier hotel descriptions advertise there'll be a "rooftop pool" and bar. So... They opened up about a quarter of the area of the rooftop, placed a few tables and chairs, and a space for staff to prepare drinks (marked as "Staff Only" on the door, the tables are outdoor seating only). The rest of the rooftop is rather abruptly walled off at the elevators. The bar opens from 7 PM till Midnight, they advertise live music twice weekly (no live music on the night we were there), but the bar offerings... oh, boy. No food or snacks at all, a seemingly decent cocktail list, however, I had hands down the worst margarita I have ever had. It was like drinking a syrup cup filled with ice. No salt, no nothing. The service was friendly, but the drink quality was appalling, and with only a few sad tables, the space wasn't very inviting. No restrooms up there either, so if you need to go, the waiter literally told us to go to our room to use the restroom. Or I guess you could take the elevator to the first floor and use the restrooms at the restaurant.
Seriously, the hotel is beautiful, wonderfully appointed, the staff is great, and with all that, it's better that they closed that sad excuse for a "rooftop bar" than keep it open and tarnish the rest of the experience.

Staying here tonight. Hotel is nice enough, but location is pretty poor. Other than the "mall" mentioned above, the area is pretty bleak. That said, Ubers are cheap so you are only 5 Euro ride to a more pleasant or central area.
We have a standard room, or maybe one step up. Bed is very comfortable and the pillows are not rock hard like most . Shower pressure is good enough, but it has the dreaded half missing door. I didn't see any appealing restaurants in the area so ate in the bar., which was comfortable and the food was good enough...my usual club sandwich
I might stay again but more likely I would look for something more central in town
