Do you Tip the Butler

This is mainly to Non Americans , where I know tipping is normal, but when in Thailand, if the hotel/rate included butler service, for example the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit , do you tip for service of tea/coffee etc ?

Thanks

Thats reassuring because every time these threads come up, I worry that further American tipping influence in these situations results in expectations to tip in cultures / countries where tipping isnt common. Fortunately they dont tip in China so that would counteract any American tipping that does happen in Thailand with all the Chinese visitors.

One of my American friends attempted to tip at a property in Thailand and quickly figured out that it was far too much hullabaloo as the staff did not want to accept it. He learned his lesson.

Admittedly, I am probably one-sided on the tipping generosity spectrum.
