Boundless SUB - existing Bold holder

Boundless SUB - existing Bold holder
I have a Marriott Bonvoy card (for 3+ years so no SUB in over 24 months) and wanted to switch to Boundless. I read the terms (shared below) for the current bonus. It seems like if I apply for Boundless now I'm not eligible. But if I cancel then I will be.
Has anyone done this? I'm wondering how long to wait before I apply - if it's closed should I technically be immediately eligible (or does it take time for their systems to recognize it)?
Also how can one find out after you've applied whether they think you're eligible for SUB?

These are the current terms:
3 Free Night Awards After You Spend $3,000 On Purchases In The First 3 Months From Account Opening: This credit card is not available to you if (1) you currently have any of the following cards or (2) you received a new cardmember bonus for any of the following cards within the last 24 months: Marriott Bonvoy Premier credit card, Marriott Rewards Premier credit card, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless credit card, Marriott Rewards Premier Plus credit card, Marriott Bonvoy Bold credit card.
