Hello flyertalk! I booked a Marriott hotel through expedia and I someone can't seem to add it to my trips. I just see the expedia itinerary number. Lmk if there is a way around this!

No. Bookings through OTAs are bookings with the OTA, not with Marriott. You won't get nights, points, or benefits either.

I've booked via Amex travel and called marriot to add my number in. And I still get status benefits. This should apply to expedia as well?

No. Generally no. But certainly some exceptions seem to happen.

Regular Amex travel is no different than Expedia. But if you book FHR or THC rates, they are technically qualifying.

If you call the property directly you may be able to add your Bonvoy number. Its a YMMV sort of thing, as is getting points and benefits.

Expedia (and other OTA) are not eligible rates. As others have noted, you may nonetheless get on property benefits, though you are not technically entitled to them. You would only earn points and stay credit if somebody makes a mistake.

FYI Radisson Rewards (the non-US version) is the one program I know that does give elite in-stay benefits from OTA bookings. Probably not much use to most people here though.
