Points Advice
Hello,
I need some advice!
The majority of our Bonvoy points are generated from family trust-owned timeshares. They are deposited into my father's Bonvoy account, as he is/was the person who set up the trust. We go on a vacation every year using the points or the timeshares - this year it's a trip to Europe.
He passed away suddenly a few weeks ago and we have multiple hotel reservations in place with his name as the primary guest. Various family members are listed as secondary guests. Will we have issues at check in without him there? We do not have the 30 days needed to transfer the points from his account to the executors account (who is also travelling).
Thanks for your ideas!

European hotels are often required to do ID checks for the main, registered guest. You can't rely on the "additional named guest" work-around like you could in the US.

Wouldnt the better approach be to call now and change the reservation to have only the family members that are planning to being there as those listed in the record? It is fine for a member to book a room for someone else but you have to properly book it that way which I understand needs a phone call.
