Sanasaryan Han, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Istanbul [Master Thread]
Creating a dedicated thread for the first Luxury Collection hotel in Istanbul now that the property page has come online at the attached link.
Looks to be quite a nice property - no doubt a premium addition in Marriott's sprawling Istanbul portfolio.

In for 5 nights ahead of a safari next year. Current point redemptions are offering very strong value for anyone looking to book in advance. If reviews disappoint it looks like there are plenty of other high quality Marriott hotels in the city to switch to.

Dang!
I have a 5 night points reservation at Sanasaryan Han in a couple weeks. I just received an email from the hotel that they are delaying opening until January 1st.
Oddly, the Marriott website is still accepting reservations from 5 December onward. My dates are no longer available on points, though I can book a cash rate for my dates through to the 'Complete your Booking' page. Further, the lower category rooms are 'Almost Sold Out'.
Is this just glitchy Marriott system or is the hotel trying to get rid of me (Titanium)?
Update:
Marriott website now shows the hotel as back to opening soon.

they refuse to provide any alternative options or compensation as most of the hotel normally does.
for the rest of the hotels had already increased their room rate compare to when I reserve this booking. I am still looking for a proper way to complain this issue, anyone had similar cases or where should I escalate it?

Very little info about this location and even fewer reviews. Looks like it was a former police station. Took a page out of the 4S book. Very tempting to make a res--would love to hear some experiences first.

If you can get a room for 40k/night, it’s not bad at all. Current cash rates are close to 600 euros/night.

How was your stay if you don’t mind me asking? If you have status, were you upgraded at all?

Still travelling for another week - sorry don’t have a lot of time to write about my experience at the moment. But will quickly comment about your upgrade question. I am titanium / life time platinum, and did not get upgraded. It is my understanding that the owners of the hotel requested staff to save upgrades for their own families and friends.
