Do some higher end properties try to game points redemption? Bora-Bora example

I was attempting to update my 5 consecutive night stay at the St. Regis Bora-Bora yesterday. I used the flexible search to locate single days that are available. I found 5 nights in a row at the following prices:
4th - 114K points
5th - 126K points
6th - 89.6K points
7th - 104K points
8th - 104K points
Based on the above, the 5 night rate should be 448K points. However, when you put it together as 5 straight nights, it tallied as 492K points essentially collecting an additional 44k points. I'm not sure if this is a bug or not but it seems a bit unethical for Marriott to collect more for a 5 night stay than if booking the nights separately while touting 5th night free. They are basically raising the price so you don't get a full 5th night free. I still made the update to the reservation
but I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Is it just in Bora Bora or are there other examples?

Example showing how Marriott is not truly giving the 5th night free.

The 18th and the 22nd are PointSavers rates.

When booking a reservation on points with 5+ nights, all PointSavers are removed because you cannot double dip with PointsSavers and fifth night free.

Try booking 4 nights while including the 18th or the 22nd, you'll see that PointSavers is included in the rate again (you can see this by clicking Customize Payment under the room).

It is not a gimmick, it is just the nature of 5th night free - it cannot be combined with other offers (free night awards, cash and points, PointSavers, etc).
