Crediting multiple stays at same hotel with different dates

I have an upcoming stay with family and will be needing 2 rooms but staggering dates. Can I credit them all to the same account and will I get credit for the nights?
room 1: Staying 4/25 with check-out 5/1
room 2: 4/28 check-out 5/1.
I know the policy is if it's multiple rooms with the same dates then you only get credit for 1 of the room nights but has anyone had experience of this posting different for stays that start of different dates? FWIW, my options are Residence Inn or full service Marriott.

I have done this before and just booked (to use your example) one room for three nights and then two rooms for the remaining three nights.
The hotel combined the bookings and we were able to keep our room for the entire time.
Both stays posted seperately with no problems.

That's exactly the way it's worked for me. One elite night credit for each night of the longest stay, but points for all rooms even on overlapping days.

Thanks for clarifying. Will end up booking under different accounts then.

My experience is that the check-out date (or maybe confirmation numbers) is all that matters. For reservations with different weekday check-out dates (and by necessity. different confirmation numbers), I generally receive nights and points for all of my rooms. By contrast, a single reservation with multiple rooms (and by necessity, the same dates) generally receives night credit for one room and points for all rooms. My suspicion is that whoever reconciles the points and nights each weekday isn't necessary looking for overlapping reservations with different confirmation numbers.

The Marriott system does not allow for one member to receive more than one Elite Night Credit for any one day. Either you are mistaken or you are a wild anomaly.

Third possibility. It's a hack of which you were unaware.

if you just want points for both rooms, just have them transfer the balance of the 2nd room to the 1st room at check-out. That always works for me

Points and Elite nights aren't the same thing.

Your case is easy as you have same check out date for both rooms.
Combine the folios and transfer the charges from shorter stay room to the longer one
(you need to make 2 separate bookings though)
The points and night credit will be processed after check out.

It will be harder if you have different check out date.
I will have one shortly with 1st room being 7 nights stay and 2nd room will be checking out on the 3rd night.

If you can do a P1 and P2 room it will be easier and avoid any potential issues

Briefly hijacking this thread for a similar question:
I have 5 rooms booked under my Marriott # with overlapping dates, 3 on cash rates, 2 on points.
I know that I can earn points for 3 rooms when staying in one of them. Obviously I want to earn points for the rooms with cash rates and skip the rooms with points redemptions.
What's the best strategy to make this work? My plan was to ask the front desk to remove my Marriott # from the 2 rooms booked with points before checking out.
Any other suggestions?

can't remove your account number from the points reservation due to the certificate attached to those reservations for the award stay. not sure on a work around to ensure what you want to happen happens.
